Where do I begin? As I started this year, creating my “2020 vision board” this was not at all how I had envisioned this year to go! Things are nothing like how I imagined they would be, and to be honest that has brought a fair amount of heartache. But, somehow at the same time, all those pictures I carefully cut around and glued to my poster board ARE STILL present. Dance, fitness, family, health, beaches, nature, fun, food, community, strength, beauty, art, friendship and kindness are still showing up, and I am so deeply grateful. That’s one of the funny things about life, sometimes you’ll get what you wanted but the path to get there doesn’t look the way you thought it would. To stay focused on your goals, you must be willing to adapt, stay flexible “roll with the punches” and be able to let go of how you thought life should happen. One of my favorite mantras is “things are always working in my favor” and I tend to say that to myself specifically when things are NOT going according to the plan!
So here we are and here is the update. For the time being, my role at the studio will be different from what it has been for the past 6 and a half years. I will continue to work behind the scenes and be involved in making decisions to help guide us through this challenging time of unknowns and getting us to the other side. However, I will be largely stepping away from the day to day operations, including teaching classes, (online or otherwise) for an extended period of time. My focus right now will be primarily on homeschooling 7 year old soon- to -be -2nd grader Carl, as well as caring for 19 month old toddler-on-the-move Casey. As a person who always looks for a way to make it work, find the creative solution, and do it all, please know that this was a decision I did not take lightly.
For the past 4+ months, Jill and I have worked extremely hard to do everything we could to make sure Synergy will survive this, and with the amazing help and support we have received from our teachers and members, I am confident we will go on to thrive. It has been trying, and I believe things will be different for quite a while. We will mostly rely on our online class services to get by until sometime in the future. So keep suiting up and showing up in our virtual classes, do it for Synergy and do it for yourself! And if you haven’t been…now is the time. Get your ass in there!
I miss our rituals of coming to the studio and feeling the energy of the space and each other, and won’t it be sweet when we really can get back to that as we knew it before. During this moment in time, do not forget to blast your music and dance, move, breathe and stretch anywhere you are! Make it your goal to feel good today. Appreciate the simple things, look for the beauty in it all. Breathe in, take in all the good, all the strength, all the positivity. Let it go easy- effortlessly, exhale and release any anxiety, stress, and tension you may be holding. Huge thanks to Jill for being an absolute ROCKSTAR. And thanks to all of you, who make up this community for being the kind, generous, compassionate, talented people you are. I am so glad to know you. I’ll be watching from the wings, keep shining.
xo
Peace and love,
Caitlin
