“Every Worlddanz instructor has expertise in different genres, including the nuances of theculture they are celebrating through dance.”
– Kristen Ferlito, Certified Worlddanz Instructor
Kristen Ferlito, Certified Worldanz Instructor, has a passion for physical expression and
exploration. Kristen has trained and competed in dance, gymnastics, synchronized swimming,
diving, and tennis. As an Aerial Artist she performed complicated moves while suspended from
the ceiling in silk, requiring a combination of bravery, grace, strength, and dance skills.
Gymnastics are an important part of who Kristen is. She started when she was two and
competed through high school. She then taught in college and into her 20’s, continuing
recreationally until she was 30, still doing layouts and aerials.
Kristen enjoys the challenge of teaching dance to different learning styles and helping students
find their confidence. “Success as a teacher comes when a dancer who is struggling with a move
– they know the technicalities of the move but can’t translate it to the way it should feel –
begins to feel the move in their body and the joy that comes with it. I encourage students with
the playfulness in the movement.”
Kristen discovered Worldanz in 2015 and fell in love with the joy she feels through the
expression of movement in so many cultures and the global connection it offers. Worldanz
celebrates dance from all over the world such as: Pakistan, India, Jamaica, Africa, and Brazil.
Each Worldanz instructor brings their genre expertise to the table to create dynamic
choreography for every Worldanz class.
Kristen previously enjoyed a career as a tennis pro. She’s a resident of Aptos and the proud mother of two teenage sons.
